THE SEASON OF ADVENT - Today is the first day of the Christian Year.  The period of four weeks leading up to Christmas is known as Advent, a Latin word meaning “coming”.  It is a time of looking forward – to the anniversary of the birth of the Babe of Bethlehem and to the return of the Risen Christ to establish the Kingdom.  To illustrate the mood of expectation and anticipation we refrain from using the Gloria and the sung Lord’s prayer in our worship.  The colour of the vestments and hangings changes to purple, an ancient colour of penance and preparation.  Each week the Advent candles will be lit in a way that highlights the four Advent themes of hope, peace, joy, and love.

Advent candle - Each of the four Advent Candles represents an aspect of our Christian life.  The first of these is HOPE and it is lit by our young people, our hope for the future.

Coffee Set-up and Clean-up schedule is being updated for January through April 2018.  Please contact Dianne Keats, at 604-531-6305 to let her know the dates you will NOT be available.

Our annual Christmas Fair was, once again a huge success.  Please watch for the details, and a full listing of our sincere thank you’s in next week’s bulletin.  Your support, as always, is amazing.
