2016 ALTAR GUILD REPORT
The Altar Guild consists of dedicated members who not only prepare the Church each week for the Sacraments, but also for baptisms, weddings, funerals and festivals throughout the year. Beside our regular members, we have Alan and Jennifer Whike who organize our flower delivery every week, and Kathy Van Allen who does such a wonderful job with the sconces every festival.
We had a very busy year this year. During Lent, we held a work party and cleaned both the sacristy and the flower room. On the Saturday before Palm Sunday, we got together with parishioner volunteers and made crosses to be distributed on Sunday. Thanks to all the work done by Paul and Lenore Richards, we were finally able to get new flower vases behind the Altar. We also have Lenore to thank for getting us the new purificators. Since we had some extra money in our funds, we voted to contribute to the cost of the new carpet in the Sacristy. In August, we had the counter tops in the flower room resurfaced.
After many years of getting our flowers from J & H Grocery, Terry decided it was time to retire, and we had to find another source for our flowers; at the moment, we are getting them through Buy-Low Foods. In October, we had our Corporate Communion and luncheon, which is something we all enjoy.
Although Letta Lewis has resigned after many years, she is still going to stay on as our spare. We also have three new members, Sue Bowcock, Victoria Finley and Karen Peplow. We are always looking for new members, both men and women!
