Mother’s Day

Today is Mother’s Day, when we remember our own mothers (whether on earth, or in heaven) and all those women who have had a motherly influence in our lives.  Wishing you all a blessed day!

 Next Sunday is Pentecost

The Easter season closes with Pentecost (next Sunday, May 20th) and our tradition is to wear something red that day to acknowledge the rich outpouring of the Holy Spirit!

GARDEN VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED!

Our gardens are in urgent need of a spring clean-up!  Please come and join us, and spend a few hours gardening, then have a cup of coffee and socialize afterwards!  Our Gardening Ministry volunteers meet every Tuesday morning during the spring and summer months.

Our Refugee Family has Arrived!

We are thrilled to announce the long-anticipated arrival of Holy Trinity’s Syrian refugee family, the Ramos. They were welcomed at the airport by members of our Refugee Committee, including Paul Richards, Susan Lazar, and Sheila Johnston, our wardens, Frances Fagan and Simon Johnston, and by Carol DeBoek, the widow of our committee’s former chairman, Peter Johnson.  Randa’s cousin, Bahar, and several other family members were also on hand.

The occasion was one of joy, and filled with the endless smiles of our new arrivals to Canada.  The Ramos will be staying at a hotel for a week until the suite that we have rented for them is ready to occupy.  They will be living in New Westminster, where Randa has a number of family members for support, and where ESL and refugee aid programs are most readily available.

A sincere thank you for the incredible work of our Refugee Committee members and particularly to the parishioners of Holy Trinity whose donations and commitment to this cause made this all possible.
